As the curtains pull back to unveil the new luxury vehicles and supercars at the Geneva Car Show on 09 March, none will be more dazzling than the diamond studded Rolls-Royce. The new Rolls-Royce Ghost, aptly named ‘Diamond Stardust’, is the talk of the town this year.
For 2017, Rolls-Royce has designed pure luxury. The front interior is designed for opulence and convenience, with black leather and Mugello Red stitching and piping. Lambswool foot mats ornate the floor of the veneer on the dash and doors is of the Tudor Oak variety. The back seat is graced with Selby Grey soft leather, with tartan-style inners of the doors. It also includes display screens for entertainment and trays.
The finishing touch is the 1 000 crushed diamonds used to paint and polish the Rolls-Royce. It gives a whole new meaning to’diamond black’.
No wonder it has been named “the most luxurious and exterior ever seen on a motor car”. This Ghost wears the most expensive paint ever to be used by Rolls-Royce.
Rolls-Royce claims that the diamonds were ethically sourced from mines that adhere to strict social and environmental protocols (Auto Evolution). The paint was made in house, and it took engineers two months to perfect the star-studded finish. The trick was to ensure that the diamonds still sparkle while not resulting in a rough exterior.
The price for this luxury vehicle has not yet been disclosed. A normal Ghost series fetches anything from $300,000.
